School Communities

The Pioneer Valley, formed by the Connecticut River, is home to the urban centers of Springfield and Holyoke and rural, former manufacturing towns such as Greenfield and Orange. The school communities in these cities and towns are the primary educational settings of the S2TLC project. Here the Science and Mathematics Master Teaching Fellows (MTFs) interact daily with middle and high school students, and these are the sites where MTFs mentored Teaching Fellows during 2012-13. Students in the partner districts are representative of diverse ethnic, language, and economic backgrounds.

Visit pages for each partner district:
GREENFIELD PUBLIC SCHOOLS, Greenfield, MA
HOLYOKE PUBLIC SCHOOLS, Holyoke, MA
MAHAR REGIONAL SCHOOL DISTRICT (located in Orange, MA)
SPRINGFIELD PUBLIC SCHOOLS, Springfield, MA

After their mentorship, Teaching Fellows may assume positions in schools in these districts, or may go anywhere in the country to work in a school meeting the state’s criteria for a high needs school. Follow the link and visit the places they are teaching:  TEACHING FELLOWS’ SCHOOLS
