Polish Yers and the Finer Structure of Output-Output Correspondence

Jarosz, Gaja. 2006. Polish Yers and the Finer Structure of Output-Output Correspondence. In Proceedings of the 31st Annual Meeting of the Berkeley Linguistics Society.

Abstract

This paper presents an Optimality Theoretic analysis of Polish yer alternations in simple and derived paradigms. The analysis departs from prior proposals in relying on general syllable structure constraints to derive the vowel-zero alternations. Also proposed is an output-output correspondence-based approach for handling the alternation patterns in derived paradigms.
