Tryouts for the 2010-2011 season have ended, but were very successful. We are very pleased with the amount of girls that showed up and we thank everyone for trying out! Even though tryouts are over, anyone is welcome to practice with us!

Hi,
I am a sophomore at Umass and hope to try out in the fall but have not played a real game of volleyball since high school. I was wondering how competitive try outs will be and what you will be mainly looking for in players. I am trying to brush up on my skills but do not know where to start.
Thanks
Emily Ferjuste
Hi Emily,
I’m glad to hear you’re interested in trying out for the team! We welcome all players to try out for the team. During try outs, we do lots of drills (basic skills such as hitting, passing, serving, setting) and scrimmaging. We are looking for players that are enthusiastic, dedicated, team oriented, hardworking, and want to play in a competitive league. There have been many players that have tried out that haven’t played for awhile so don’t worry about that! Touching the ball before trying out can definitely help. We will be having tryouts for about 2 weeks so you will have plenty of time to get used to playing again! Hope this helps and if you have any more questions please feel free to email me. You can find my contact info on the Contact page!

Hi Nicole,
The first week will be Mon-Wed tryouts so come to the days that you can. For the second week, I’m probably going to have the tryouts Tues-Thurs. Keep looking at the website to see if there are changes. Also, for a faster response email me or the other officers. You can find our contact information on the contact tab.

Hi Jennifer,
You are still about to tryout for the team. We understand classes sometimes conflict with classes so come to the tryout that you can. For the second week, I will probably change the days to Tues-Thurs since it seems like many people have similiar conflicts as you. Also, tryouts will be at the Boyden gym. If you have further questions, it is better to email me or the other officers for a faster response. You can find our conflict information on the contact section of the website.
