The Donahue lab studies the biology, physiology, and mechanics of bone from animals that have adapted to extreme environmental conditions. Examples include Trinidadian guppies, little pocket mice, arctic ground squirrels, bighorn sheep, hibernating bears, and dinosaurs. We also use more traditional laboratory rodent models to study treatments for osteoporosis and tissue engineering approaches to regenerating new bone tissue.
Bone lab students in the news. Congratulations Jasmine for being selected a 21st Century Leader and Aladdin on being featured in the UMass Amherst Senior Series !
