SCiL 2023 program and registration

The program of talks and posters is available in this linked .pdf. Abstracts and papers are available in our Proceedings.

The conference will start at 9 am Thursday June 15th with a gathering with coffee and tea and pastries. Brief introductory remarks will occur at 9:55, and the the first talk will be at 10.

All talks will take place in ILC S140. (The Integrative Learning Center, 650 N. Pleasant St. Amherst). Morning gatherings and coffee breaks will take place in a nearby foyer that will be easy to find. The Friday and Saturday morning gatherings will start at 8:30. This is on the first floor, and will be easy to find if you enter through the doors facing the Student Union and Campus Center parking. If you enter through the doors on N. Pleasant St., you will be on the second floor, and it won’t be obvious how to get down to the first, though you should be able to get there eventually.

Attendees will be furnished with a UMassCard to purchase lunch Thursday and Friday in the adjacent Blue Wall dining area; it will have a $28 value. If you have a balance remaining on your card at the end of the conference, please return it to the basket on the table where you will have gotten the cards and your name tags outside ILC S140, beside the coffee break tables, or give it to Joe Pater or one of the student volunteers, Brian Cho, Eva Neu or Satoru Ozaki.

On Thursday evening you are invited to gather with fellow attendees from 6-8 at Protocol (https://www.protocol-amherst.com), 1 East Pleasant St. Amherst. There will be a dinner buffet of bar-type food with both meat and vegetarian options (dips, fries, ribs, beef and veggie sliders, salad), which is aimed to feed 40 (we have 70 registered conference attendees, and imagine not everyone will come). Feel free to treat this as either dinner or a pre-dinner gathering. We cannot pay for your drinks unfortunately.

The poster sessions, and the Friday dinner, will take place on the 10th floor of the nearby Campus Center in the Amherst room (go through the Blue Wall and turn left to find the elevators).

The on-line poster session will be in GatherTown: https://app.gather.town/app/xfLs5fnTgSLgGr58/SCiL2023

Parking options are described here: https://www.umass.edu/transportation/where-park. The campus center lot is the closest paid lot to the ILC. We have parking passes available; just park in the campus center lot and get a pass from Joe Pater or one of the student volunteers which you will use to exit. On the weekend, you can park in the permitted lots (e.g. 63 and 64 on the map), which are right by the ILC and the campus center. Please use these free options rather than the parking pass on Saturday.

Transportation options to Amherst are provided here, including transportation from the airport: https://www.cics.umass.edu/grads/arriving-amherst
