Welcome to Sounds2Syntax Lab!

Sounds2Syntax Lab, directed by Dr. Jill Hoover, is a research laboratory in the Department of Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences at UMass Amherst. The overarching goal of our lab is to understand how various language and cognitive skills interact during development in children who have language disorders and in children whose language skills are age appropriate. We hope that our work will lead to improved ways of diagnosing language impairment and effective ways of delivering clinical services to children with language disorders.

We are currently recruiting children for a new research study funded by the National Institutes of Health investigating how executive functions like memory and flexible thinking are related to language skills in children.
