Jennifer Mack, PhD, Principal Investigator

Jennifer Mack is an Assistant Professor of Communication Disorders and directs the Neuroscience of Language and Aphasia Lab at UMass-Amherst. She received a PhD in Linguistics at Yale University and completed postdoctoral fellowships in psycholinguistics at UMass-Amherst and the neurobiology of language and aphasia rehabilitation at Northwestern University. She teaches courses on neuroanatomy, language science, and acquired communication disorders.


Maggie Grosman, Undergraduate Research Assistant

Maggie is a junior at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, majoring in Communication Disorders. Additionally, she is pursuing a minor in Psychology and a specialization in Developmental Disabilities and Human Services. In the future, she plans to pursue a Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology. In her free time, Maggie loves hiking and spending time with her family and friends.

Amrita Adak, Undergraduate Research Assistant

Amrita is a junior at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Individual Concentration of Neurobiology, Language and Trauma. In the future, she plans to apply to medical school and be a neurologist. In her free time, she enjoys learning new languages, reading, listening to podcasts and spending time with family, friends, and their pets

Christina Clark, Undergraduate Research Assistant

Christina is a junior at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, majoring in Communication Disorders while also getting a minor in Psychology. Christina is also working towards a certificate in the Developmental Disabilities and Human Services (DDHS) Program. In the future, Christina plans to attend a graduate program in Speech-Language Pathology to pursue a career as an SLP. In her free time, Christina loves working in childcare, spending time with family and friends, and cooking.

Grace Haskell, Undergraduate Research Assistant

Grace is a senior at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, pursuing a double major in Communication Disorders and Psychology. In the future, she plans to obtain a Master’s in Speech-Language Pathology. She will be studying abroad in Italy for her last semester as an undergraduate. In her free time, she enjoys traveling, baking, spending time with friends and family and going for long walks on the beach with her dog.

Miriam Munoz, Graduate Research Assistant

Joined NOLA Lab in Fall, 2020

Miriam was born and raised in sunny San Diego, CA. She graduated from San Diego State University with a double major in Psychology and Spanish. There, she also obtained a Spanish/English translating and interpreting degree. Miriam is now a 3rd year AuD student and 6th year neuroscience PhD student. In the future, she plans to direct her own lab and help with the training of audiology student clinicians. In her free time, she enjoys traveling to places just to try new food, redecorating her house, spending time with her daughter, and taking care of her 11 plants.

Colleen Ward, Graduate Research Assistant and Lab Manager

Joined NOLA Lab in Summer, 2018

Colleen is a second year student in the Speech-Language Pathology program at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. She received her B.S. in Communication Disorders from UMass in May of 2020 with minors in Linguistics and Education, and a letter of specialization from the Psychology Department in Developmental Disabilities and Human Services. In her free time, Colleen likes to read and spend time with her friends, family, and dog, Shiloh.
