Please join us for our last Math Club talk of the semester this Wednesday, 5:30-6:30 in LGRT 1634. This week, Dr. Maria Correia will speak on, “Combinatorial description of the orbits of a certain dynamical system” (abstract below). As usual, pizza and soda will be provided with the talk.
Abstract:
We consider a dynamical system obtained by iteration of functions of a class of differentiable functions under m-modal maps f. In this talk, we introduce and develop some techniques of symbolic dynamics for the dynamical system. Moreover, we obtain a combinatorial description of the orbits of the dynamical system which depends on the combinatorial description of the orbits of a one dimensional dynamical system induced by f.
