Getting Homework 1 solutions

You should be able to download Homework 1 solutions (in pdf version of “written” solutions) , and an alternate version of those solutions using Mathematica (in a notebook file) from the math421-murray UDrive. That course UDrive should have sent you an e-mail containing a link to its “Homework solutions” folder.

As an expedient, in case you are having trouble with that, I’ve put direct links to the files on the Homework page of this course web site.

Homework 1!

Homework 1 is due Monday 20 September at the start of class, except that question #1 consists of the work from WeBWorK set 421HW1 and that WeBWorK part is due Sunday 19 September 5:00 p.m.

See the Homework page for a link to the Homework 1 assignment, in the form of an Adobe pdf file.

Note: WeBWorK Problem 5 does not recognize the “sqrt” function notation. It seems to require that you enter your answers using (…)^(1/2) notation for square-roots of (positive) real numbers. Or, instead, you can use decimals rather than exact expressions involving square-roots at all.

Math Club meets Wed 9/15

The first meeting for the semester of the Math Club will be:

Wednesday 15 September
6:00–7:00 p.m.
LGRT 1521D
Pizza will be served (as usual)

This will be a “game night”.  And the Club’s leaders will show  new students what the Math Club has to offer and to tell them about some of the talks and activities we have planned this semester.

This is a great opportunity to meet other students interested in math, including Math Majors.
