LINGUIST 411 Introduction to Language Acquisition
LINGUIST 394BI Language and Cognition OR LINGUIST 412 Language Processing and the Brain (IE course)
LINGUIST 510 Introduction to Semantics

Required Philosophy courses (12 credits):
PHIL 310 Intermediate Logic
PHIL 542 Topics in Epistemology or 551 Metaphysics
PHIL  341 Introduction to Metaphysics or PHIL 342 Introduction to Epistemology

One of the following Logic Electives:

At the discretion of the directors of undergraduate studies in each department, other senior-level courses in Linguistics and Philosophy may be substituted for those listed.

Junior Year Writing requirement

The Junior Year Writing (JYW) requirement is met by taking LINGUIST 305, LINGUIST 350, or PHIL 400.  The Junior Year Writing requirement does not need to be satisfied in your junior year.

Common requirements for all majors

A grade of C or better must be earned in any course used to satisfy major requirements.

College of Humanities and Fine Arts requirement

  • Foreign Language: All students must demonstrate proficiency in a foreign language at the intermediate level.
