LASPRL 2019

LASPRL 2019 seeks to bring together scholars from a wide range of disciplines who are interested in sharing their expertise on linguistic attitudes, and  discussing and comparing their extensive empirical and theoretical findings, so as to accomplish a synergy of perspectives and approaches that emphasize the role of language attitude practices in dealing with demanding situations emerging in intergroup encounters involving Spanish, Portuguese and the related language they are in contact with in the 21st Century.

Following the success of the 1st International Symposium on Linguistic Attitudes toward Spanish, Portuguese and Related Languages held in Fort Wayne in 2016, this edition of the symposium will welcome presentations that address the following topics:

  • Language attitudes and perceptions
  • Language attitudes in the classroom
  • Language attitudes towards standard and minorities linguistic variation
  • Linguistic attitudes and identities
  • Linguistic attitudes and discrimination
  • Linguistic attitudes and ideologies
  • Linguistic attitudes and language maintenance
  • Linguistic attitudes and social networks

Official languages: English, Portuguese and Spanish
