The Muscle Physiology Lab is a group of researchers who are broadly interested in understanding how human skeletal muscle changes are affected by age, gender, and activity.  We use a combination of non-invasive techniques to measure the roles of neural activation, intramuscular metabolism, contractile function, and blood flow in the development of muscle fatigue in a variety of populations.  The lab is run by Prof. Jane Kent, the Chair of the UMass Amherst Department of Kinesiology and our primary source of funding comes from the National Institutes of Health
