I’m a fifth year PhD student in Linguistics at UMass Amherst. I work in the syntax-semantics interface with a focus on Dravidian and Indo-Aryan languages.

My paper on Tamil indeterminates. I make an argument that unconditionals (with their basically universal semantics) in Tamil reveal the ‘additive’ suffix -um to be the counterpart of the Japanese -mo, a step towards establishing that NPIs formed with -um are universals as well. This fits in with the general spirit of the view that NPIs in some languages are universal quantifiers that outscope negation.

FASAL-2017 poster on ‘again’ adverbs in Hindi-Urdu. I am currently working out how the syntax of ‘again’ adverb placement in Hindi-Urdu interacts with object shift, and what relationship the semantics of ‘again’ has with unique interpretations of DPs.

I also work with Sakshi Bhatia on sluicing in Hindi-Urdu.
