CNS Dean, Michael A. Fox
Dr. Michael Fox was just appointed Dean of the UMass Amherst College of Natural Sciences in August. He received his PhD. in Anatomy from Virginia Commonwealth University. His postdoctoral training was in Molecular and Cellular Biology at Harvard University. Dr. Fox began as faculty member at Virginia Tech in 2012. He served as director of the Virginia Tech School of Neuroscience, the endowed I.D. Wilson Chair in the Virginia Tech College of Science, and as a Professor at the Fralin Biomedical Research Institute. The focus of his research is the study of the cellular and molecular mechanisms that underlie neural circuit formation in the developing brain.
Dr. Fox’s talk entitled, “Shedding light on mechanisms that wire the brain” will begin at 4pm.
Immediately following the presentation by Dean Fox, there will be a poster conference. We encourage all members of our community to present a poster. It’s a great opportunity to practice presenting as the Society for Neuroscience conference is the following week. Register and submit poster abstracts here.
Hors d’oeuvres and light refreshments will be served. Please register whether or not you are presenting a poster, so we can get an accurate head count for food.
