Collective memories play a fundamental role in bringing people together, but the very notion of memory, and the implications attached to it, can be substantially different from one society to another as well as across time. In this round table, seven scholars in the humanities will reflect on ideas of memory and forgetting in social and cultural contexts, discussing approaches to studying memory in linguistics, cultural studies, medieval studies, film studies, theater, and history.
