UMass has a vibrant and growing community of neuroscientists on campus and is a leader in neuroscience research and education in western Massachusetts. The Neurosciences at UMass span several schools and departments within those schools. The Initiative on Neurosciences (IONs) provides an umbrella for the many faces of Neuroscience on campus. It sponsors conferences, forums, lectures, and public events. IONs provides small grants for collaborative research in the neurosciences.


Week of Memory and Forgetting: Science, Society, and Senescence.

IONs is collaborating with the Fine Art Center (FAC), the Institute for Holocaust, Genocide, and Memory Studies (IHGMS), and faculty in the Department of Spanish and Portuguese Studies to host a week of events relating memory and forgetting from a variety of perspectives.
