Turnitin Scheduled Downtime Saturday, Nov. 5

On Saturday, Nov. 5, 2016, from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. Turnitin will be unavailable while Turnitin performs maintenance on internal network hardware to increase capacity and ensure continued dependable service.

No submissions or grading will be possible during the downtime. We advise instructors to set submission deadlines be outside of this maintenance window.

 

Winter/Spring 2017 Course Materials Adoptions due by Monday, Nov. 7

Course material adoptions are due in SPIRE before pre-registration opens. For more, see About Amazon CourseMaterials for UMass.

 

Spring Course Requests Open on Monday, Nov. 7

Pre-registration and Moodle course requests for Winter and Fall terms open in SPIRE on Monday, Nov. 7, 2016. For details see Request Your Moodle Course-Overview.

To reuse a previous Moodle course, first request a new empty course, then use the Import tool to copy the previous course into it. For details on how to reuse a previous course, see Reuse a Moodle Course Using Import.

Note: New as of this month, certain item types can no longer be imported and must be recreated in your new course (see below).

 

October Moodle Changes

The following change has been made to Moodle that may affect instructors reusing a previous course:

  • Course Import
    External tool activities and the UMass Libraries Course Materials block can not be imported from previous Moodle courses and must be recreated in the new course. This change was made because those item types must be configured each semester.
