How Many Open Browser Tabs is Too Many?

Is your web browser really slow?

Does Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari, or Google Chrome keep crashing on you?

Do you keep dozens of  tabs open and become mystified and/or angry when your system slows down- or even worse, crashes on you? Well, knock it off! You are asking too much of your computer and Web browser.

According to Angus Kidman at Lifehacker, there are four reasons why you should never have more than 9 browser tabs open at any given time:

  1. You can’t see what’s in all of those open tabs. So, really, why have them open?
  2. Your browser has a tool for remembering what sites you’ve been on: the browser history. Use it!
  3. No human being (yes, even you) can process all of the information in those open tabs at one time.
  4. You are wasting valuable keyboard shortcuts.

So, go easy on those browser tabs- your computer, brain, and work process will thank you.
