Lionel Loueke Trio

Hailing from West Africa, this rising star guitarist delivers African and Brazilian flavors on top of downright wicked jazz.

“His ear-friendly melodicism draws both from traditional African sources and a lifetime of closely studying the likes of Jim Hall and George Benson, and his rhythmic shifts come quickly and packed with surprises” JazzTimes.

  1. Wonderful concert! Great mix of song and improvisation. Loved the piece in 17, and I hope the non-musicians in the audience loved it too. Great trio interplay, could tell they’d been playing together for a long time. Loved Felipe Saez’s sax playing as well. All around great show!

  2. The concert was exciting, dreamy, melodic, uplifting, and unpredictable. The musicians intensely engaged each other and were having such a good time, I didn’t want to miss seeing a moment. Then, at times I felt like closing my eyes and just let the music take me away. By the concert’s end, I felt like I had been massaged and caressed. Loueke’s songs and jazz improvisations are brilliant!
