Backed by a duo of musicians, he’ll perform his favorite covers along with some pretty amazing stories. Join us in the lobby at 6:30 p.m. for our opening party with desserts and cash bar.

  1. Amazing! So incredible. He literally made you want to laugh and cry at different times during the same performance. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a live performance with more energy and heart than this one.

  2. Kudos to the FAC for bringing Alan Cumming to UMASS! The performance was fabulous, both well rehearsed and seamlessly improvisational (the young patron who suddenly left the theater briefly, only to have Alan Cumming borrow her phone for a series of selfies with the audience will NEVER leave a performance in the middle again!). The performance was personal, sometimes shockingly intimate, and wonderfully musical – truly a treat for everyone there.

  3. Loved, loved, loved this. We can’t all be friends with Alan Cumming, but this night let me believe, for a moment, that he was mine.

  4. Alan Cumming is, quite simply, an astounding artist. He captivated the audience from the moment he began to sing through to his final curtain call. His stories engaged and moved me (even the ones I already knew) because of the power, charm, and sincerity of his story-telling. What a phenomenal treat to have an artist of his stature opening the FAC season.

  5. Incredibly intimate setting Alan was someone you would bring home and have a good talk about life and choices. Thank you for kicking off you season in such a dynamic way

  6. Alan Cummings was amazing and I enjoyed the entire evening from watching him on stage to meeting him backstage. It was an exceptional show that was both moving and funny. He’s a great talent that should be celebrated. Thanks for giving me the opportunity to see his bigger than life performance.

  7. This was an incredible night. This is a first rate performer who is giving more than 100% of himself, musically and emotionally. All in the hope – you can see it in his eyes – of connecting with his audience. He succeeds. Very powerful, very entertaining, and so musically satisfying! Where else are you going to hear a concert with pop songs, French songs, Sondheim songs, Scottish songs and terrifying songs (Kurt Weill). All were awe-inspiring. One of the best things I’ve seen live, ever.

  8. Fabulous evening. Alan Cumming’s talent is a delight to experience, his sincerity and story telling skill remarkable. Wonderful evening enjoyed by family.

  9. We throughly enjoyed this performance. His honesty and love of what he was doing was very moving. So glad we went.

  10. Genius and mischief intertwine in this riveting performance by Alan. The songs were indeed sappy and so good to hear from such a talented and energized artist.
Lots of laughs, never a dull moment, so sad when it ends.

  11. What an amazing show! Alan was incredibly- giving the huge performance one expects while still making you feel like he’s talking directly to you. And we got an additional treat in the forms of Lance Horne and Eleanor Norton who were more than just his backup. A wonderful way to start the season!

  12. Someone else bought me these tickets and I was very unsure if I would enjoy myself. I knew very little about Alan Cumming before this show, but I am a huge fan of his now! The show was a great mixture of humor, talent, and real and raw emotions. His voice was amazing; the music aspect was just as compelling and delightful as his interludes to speak to us. I can’t say enough how much I enjoyed this performance, I could definitely see myself seeing the show again.
