Hot Sardines

Saturday, September 26 at 8 p.m., Fine Arts Center Concert Hall, Chamber Seating
$40 all seats (Reserved Seating); Five College, GCC and 17 & under $15

Take a blustery brass lineup, layer it over a rhythm section led by a Fats Waller-style stride piano virtuoso, toss in a tap dancer, and tie the whole thing together with a magnetic, one-of-the-boys front woman whose voice recalls another era, and you have the Hot Sardines – a band that plays the hot trad jazz and sultry standards of the 1920s, ‘30s and ‘40s with a Parisian accent and a dash of the rich Dixieland sounds of New Orleans. Fans of Pink Martini and the Squirrel Nut Zippers: you’re gonna love the Hot Sardines!

Join us for a pre-concert “Speak-Easy” party in the lobby with cash bar starting at 6:30 p.m. Dress to impress for the period and win a prize.

  1. Good morning Fine Arts Center:
We had a fabulous time last night enjoying the sights and sounds of the Hot Sardines. They were wonderful! We hope they will be coming back to the Fine Arts Center SOON!
    Our seats were perfect, also.

  2. Yesterday was wonderful! The speakeasy outside were also a great idea, and people were dressed up in character! The band was amazing, but the organization of the FAC matched it, thank you for a great show.

  3. A disappointment. While there was some good musicianship, the singing was far too often indistinct and the program much too unvaried to make for a good overall program. High volume is no substitute for high quality performance.

  4. A great time! We love this band and were so happy to be able to see them in Amherst! The Fine Arts Center is lovely and they showed everyone a great time with the Speakeasy Party in the lobby before the show. Amazing food and a really good band on the terrace and everyone dressed up in period clothes made for a festive time for all.

  5. It was just a wonderful evening, loved every minute of it. Who would expect to have a tap dancer in the group! Fantastic!

  6. I have been coming to concerts at the FAC since it opened. Where do you find all this wonderful talent? Never disappointed. They were fab!
