ACLS Humanities E-Book Collection Added

The Libraries now subscribe to the Humanities E-Book Collection of over 4,300 e-books from the American Council of Learned Societies. Area and historical topics include African, American, Asian, Australasian/Oceanian, Byzantine, Canadian, Caribbean, Central European, Comparative/World, Eastern European/Russian, Economic, Environmental, European, Jewish Studies, Latin American, Law, LGBT/Queer Studies, Medicine, Methods/Theory, Middle East, Native Peoples of the Americas, Science/Technology, Women’s Studies. HEB also encompasses the fields of Archaeology, Art and Architectural History, Biblical Studies, Bibliographic Studies, Film and Media Studies, Folklore, Linguistics, Literature, Literary Criticism, Musicology, Performance Studies (theater, music, dance), Philosophy, Political Science, Religion, and Sociology.

New Ebooks from the Institute of Physics

The Libraries have purchased two Institute of Physics ebook collections, Expanding Physics and Concise Physics. The collections will grow from 35 to 95 titles over the next couple of years. You may find individual book titles in the UMass Amherst library catalog. The ebooks do not have digital rights restrictions and they are viewable in HTML, PDF, EPUB and MOBI formats.

New Oxford Handbooks, Business and Management Collection

The Libraries have purchased 5 new titles in the Oxford Handbooks Online Business and Management collection. You may find them in the UMass Amherst library catalog or through the collection site. The titles are:

  • Oxford Handbook of Internet Studies

The Libraries have purchased two Project Muse e-book collections:

  • Film, Theater and Performing Arts – 120 titles published in 2012,
  • Political Science and Policy Studies – 231 titles published in 2012.

Multiple people can use each e-book simultaneously.  You can search the contents of the book, and front matter and book chapters are available as PDF files.

The Libraries now have a subscription to ProQuest SAFARI Books Online. Safari Books Online provides access to more than 20,000 digital books on Computer Technology and Business topics, ranging from programming to IT networking to project management to graphic design to business strategy. The content includes code snippets, certification preparation materials, practice exercises, and much more. Users can search thousands of books simultaneously online.
