About Dennis

Dennis Vandal’s passion for photography began at age 12 when he took over his father’s cameras and darkroom. He taught himself how to light, shoot and develop his own images. After graduating from Suffolk University in Boston with a bachelor’s degree in journalism, he illustrated the stories he wrote while working as a reporter for a weekly newspaper in Rhode Island. He then transitioned to photojournalism at the Milford Daily News after a one year commercial photography studio apprenticeship in Providence. Award winning work in Milford brought him to an eight year stint on the photography  staff of the Worcester Telegram & Gazette.

Since 1987, Dennis has been a self-employed photographer and photojournalist, working throughout southern New England for the Boston Globe, the Associated Press, the Sporting News, many magazines and a variety of architectural firms, advertising agencies and corporate clients.

Beginning with a close relationship with the Eastman Kodak Company, Dennis has also become an active lecturer. He has taught photojournalism at Northeastern University in Boston since 1998 and at the University of Massachusetts since 2005.DCV142acrop
