About the Study

This project is exploring how pregnant and lactating (breastfeeding, chestfeeding, and pumping) people in Massachusetts make decisions about whether and when to use cannabis (sometimes referred to as marijuana, pot, or weed, including THC and CBD products in any form).

The purpose of this research study is to:

1) Gain a better understanding of what information people do and don’t use to make cannabis use decisions in pregnancy or lactation, and

2) Learn what would be the best ways to investigate this further in a future, larger study.

Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, we have changed the study so there is no physical contact involved.

Starting in May 2020 we will be seeking to conduct telephone interviews with Massachusetts residents who are 21 years or older, have been pregnant in the past year, and are considering/have considered using cannabis while pregnant or lactating.

We will conduct telephone interviews in English to better understand how people make decisions about whether or not to use cannabis (including smoking, vaping, edibles, oils, THC or CBD) while pregnant or lactating.
