Chapter 16. Democracy: how it works

“Freedom” is the capacity to make choices over one’s own life.

“Democracy” is the capacity to participate in the effective control over collective choices that affect one’s life as a member of a wider society.

All people should have broadly equal access to the necessary means to participate in decisions over things which affect their lives.
