Survey social media for advocacy/activist voices and/or groups related to your topic.  Search for 4 quality sources to annotate and write summary notes.

    1. Can be any platform:  Twitter, Tik-Tok, Facebook, Instagram, Reddit, YouTube, etc.  
    2. Search phrases might include:  advocacy groups for…, activist groups, policy alternatives…, social change demands/asks/organizations…. 
      1. Keep a record of your search phrases; include a list at the bottom of your notes. 
    3. For each source, write a two to three sentence summary.
    4. For each source, copy/paste URL.  Include date of research:  “Retrieved month, day, year.”
    5. For your annotations and concluding discussion, how do these sources name and analyze the issue in terms of: 
      1. context (root causes)
        1. institutional
        2. cultural
      2. alternatives (root solutions):  what changes are they calling for?
        1. demands for systemic institutional change (policies, programs)
        2. changes in cultural beliefs, norms, values 
      3. strategies for change
        1. what is it calling on people to do?
    6. Once the annotations are complete, write a 1-2 paragraph summary of some important takeaways related to your topic.
