Mission

The Briere Human Milk Research lab investigates bioactive components of human milk in an effort to expand the knowledge of human milk, infant health, and development. Research is focused on the protection and promotion of breastfeeding by learning more about what is in human milk. We are especially interested in the cells in milk and their role in infant health. We are focused primarily on preterm infants and ensuring that these infants receive human milk at its “best”. With this in mind, we look at how we store and handle milk in the NICU, and how we prepare and deliver it to preterm infants.
