Frank is still in Oklahoma. This morning I visited with the Swartz family at our winter farmer’s market. I bought some grade B syrup for cooking and candy for my Belarusian colleague, who will be visiting soon, from Ed of the Parker Sugar House. He was on Channel 22 just before I was:

I talked with Sarah about the seed ordering for our heirloom garden. My students have been interning there to work further on this. One student who also works for an area supermarket may become our poster child for a sales connection. This is really going to happen!

Frank is enjoying Oklahoma. Here we do not have redbuds ready yet. Still very cold. Off to hear another faculty candidate present. Then my students will present their visual books based upon their spring break experiences. And more work reviewing scholarship applications for honors. Also will be sending some origami postcards to my friends in Austin for our national bakesale for Japan. Most of my art work is now for causes, such as Postcards from the Edge from NYC this past winter.

En route to Oklahoma, Frank is traveling noting all the cherry and forsythia blossoms down south. Here we are still facing snow in our forecast. I am off to a thesis committee meeting and then a sexual harassment workshop. In Frank’s day there certainly were no women on the faculty…I wonder when the first women students came to the department.

Arthur Harrison was visiting to think about joining the faculty. Then Frank leaves for Oklahoma. Today I will hear a presentation from one of our faculty candidates visiting on interview. I also have to prepare for my upcoming trip to California.

Another hard day’s work for Frank. Today for me back to work after spring break began with advising at honors. Also met with the dean there. It is so wonderful to feel valued. Have appreciated honors for over 20 years now. Lunch at the Faculty Club with our second candidate for our new position in LARP.

Well it is a hard Monday for Frank, but an even harder Sunday for me. Where did spring break go? All the things I wanted to get done are now all piling up on this last day. And then there are also taxes. So today feels rather stressful. I never really did get away to take any vacation this week either. That was probably a mistake! I did flambe a steak though, which was rather exciting.

Frank attended church on Sunday. The Hurds visited in the evening. It is a Saturday today for me. I took Bear to the vets for a rabies shot. He was so not pleased, but has been in quarantine all winter following a terrible abscess and a lapse in his rabies. So if he is to enjoy getting back outside again, this state mandate is part of the necessary process. Now in another month he will be free to roam the wild again. I’ll bet there were no such pet laws in Frank’s day.
