About the Team
January 31st, 2011 by wcvballIn 1997 the Women’s Club Volleyball Team was created. During this time, UMass’s NCAA volleyball team still existed; however, around the year 2000 the team was cut due to budgetary reasons.
In 2007 we were officially recognized as a UMASS club sport! We practice all year long, starting with tryouts in September and closing out the season in April.
Practice is from 7am-9am, Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday mornings at the recreation center. We go to many tournaments which are usually every few weekends. Please see the schedule page on this site.

Hey Girls, Women’s Club Volleyball has been around since around 1997. I started school at Umass in Fall of 1998 and the club was in its second year. It was running under the Men’s club and using their gym time so I don’t think it was an official group until atleast 1998 maybe 1999. There was a Varsity Women’s Volleyball team too, but it was cut before I left Umass. I think the last year of Varsity was 2000, because I remember some of the girls taking about maybe joining the Club team my last year (2001-2002). I can’t remember if they did though.
