We’ve Moved!

Happy New Year, delegates and advisers!

We are excited to say that we have moved UMassMUN’s web presence to a new domain and design. Please refer to UMassMUN.org to keep up-to-date on the conference, including background guides, the conference itinerary, and other news.

While the conference is still nine weeks away, rest assured we are hard at work churning out background guides and planning the best Model UN experience we can give!

Stay warm, see you soon.

UMassMUN XIII Registration is Open!

Dear Prospective Delegates and Advisers,

It is with great excitement and pleasure that I welcome you to join us at the University of Massachusetts Amherst Secondary School Model United Nations Conference! UMASSMUN XIII will take place March 14th to March 16th in Amherst, MA at the UMass Hotel and Conference Center, located in the center of the commonwealth’s flagship campus.

Held and staffed by UMass International Relations Club, our goal is to bring delegates together into an environment that fosters creative thinking and open-mindedness in debate. We strive to provide a unique, exciting, and challenging experience with each conference in order to foster communication skills, test critical thinking and reasoning, and proliferate knowledge of international relations. Our committees are designed to present delegates with multi-faceted international issues ranging from economic instability and global cyber security, to immigration and health epidemics, and keep them in touch with the state of our globalized world.

Our theme for this year’s conference will be ‘The Tipping Point’. Defined as ‘the critical point in a situation, process, or system beyond which a significant and often unstoppable effect or change takes place’, ‘The Tipping Point’ will put delegates at some of the most critical moments of the past and present and allow them to set precedents for public policy, the economy, and even nuclear war. This is no deterministic history at UMassMUN–the decisions that our delegates will make will have profound impacts on the evolution of their committee. Whether they deal with international cybersecurity, an influx of refugees, or the first bilateral nuclear engagement, ‘The Tipping Point’ will educate, engage and entertain our delegates in ways they never have been before.

UMASSMUN XIII also strives to provide its delegates and advisers with a professional and enjoyable conference setting. An opening reception is provided for both delegates and their advisers, and numerous social events including a dance and trivia take place on Saturday evening. Together, the experiences in and out of committee make UMassMUN one of the premier high school Model United Nations conferences in the Northeast.

We look forward to seeing you in March!

Sincerely,

Erika Walsh, Secretary General
James Fahey, Director General
