Student Alumni Networking Night 2017

On Wednesday, November 8th, 2017 the Student Alumni Association hosted the Student and Alumni Networking Night. There were 90 students and 25 Alumni in attendance. This event allowed students to connect with alumni in order to gain career advice and answer industry-specific questions. The diverse alumni who attended this event attracted many students of various majors.

There were alumni from vastly different fields from Criminal Justice to Sports Management and everywhere in between. All of the Alumni in attendance were paired with a host who is a member of SAA. Chris Craig, the Ambassador Program Coordinator of SAA was the host of alumni, Martin Briggs who is a Research Hydrologist with the US Geological Survey. He said,

“I gathered invaluable information from Mr. Briggs. We had fantastic conversation about the field and he gave me a lot of useful advice regarding the transition from college into the professional world.”

We believe that student and alumni connections like this one are really special. Allowing our students to hosts Alumni helps to build one-on-one connections between students and alumni.

This event perfectly encompasses SAA’s mission to connect students and alumni to enhance the UMass experience and foster a spirit of giving back. The Student and Alumni Networking Night provides alumni the opportunity to donate their time back to UMASS in order to help current students. Students are given the opportunity to grow professionally by gaining valuable career advice, learning more about various industries and making connections with alumni.
