AND THE WINNER IS…

…The UMass Student Alumni Association!

On Saturday February 4th, the UMass SAA spent the day at Bryant University at the DI CASE ASAP Conference! It was an amazing experience for all the members who attended as we learned so much! We are coming home with new knowledge about all things leadership, from social media strategies and new traditions ideas to alumni relationship builders and improving constitutional bylaws. I guarantee that all of this new, beneficial information will help us to make SAA even better than before. While the members at the conference worked extremely hard, there was definitely time for fun and games! Not only did we get the chance to catch up with some friends from other school’s student organizations, we also watched and performed in the conference’s lip sync battle. While there is a video of that somewhere… I’ll leave that to your imagination!

At the end of the event, the annual awards ceremony took place! Here, student organizations are recognized for their impressive feats and growth throughout the year. We are so excited to share with you all that the UMass Student Alumni Association received both an “Outstanding Student Advancement Program” Award for “I Love UMass Day”, as well the “Outstanding Organization” Award! Our President, Shannon Emmett also won a scholarship to attend the CASE ASAP National Conference in Kentucky this coming August.

We want to thank Bryant University for hosting such an amazing, informational conference and we are already looking forward to the next CASE conference!

Upon our return home from the conference, our members were ready to celebrate, and what better way to celebrate than a BOWLING RETREAT! On Sunday, March 5th, our membership team held a fantastic retreat for the entire organization. We started by attending the UMass Hockey Game and then made our way over to Memorial Hall for pizza and games. After dinner, we piled into cars and headed to Spare Time Bowling in Northampton! And while we may not be as good as bowling as we are at event planning… we had an absolutely wonderful time.
All in all, I think the past week has been an exciting one for SAA and we can’t wait to keep planning, growing, and laughing together!
