Student Club Spotlight: New England Objectivist Society
February 22nd, 2012 by zryanThe Department of Political Science is excited to shine a spotlight on clubs and organizations relevant to our students. A new club spotlight will be posted periodically– check out these spotlights to find a new group to get involved with!
The New England Objectivist Society, NEOS, brings together students of shared values and interests, to build a philosophical foundation for a culture of individual rights and to promote the ideas of Ayn Rand.
NEOS is student organization, but is open to all who want to apply Objectivism to their lives and to those engaged in the rationally selfish pursuit of individual happiness. The actual organization is currently operating at the Amherst campus of the University of Massachusetts, and is open to the Five College Consortium in the area. Anyone eager to learn more about Objectivism is invited to join in the organization’s meetings and activities.
The group typically has weekly meetings in the Bluewall at 7 PM on Thursdays, but has yet to finalize that schedule. The group often puts relevant links, news items, and events on their Facebook page. You can see more about the organization in their info tab, and can look at upcoming events on their events tab.
Additionally, the group maintains a blog devoted to Objectivism that has many relevant links posted to it.
