ABA Legal Opportunity Scholarships — $5,000/year for law school

Posted by Diane on 1st December 2009

The American Bar Association Legal Opportunity Scholarship Fund is intended to encourage racial and ethnic minority students to apply to law school.  The Scholarship Fund awards $5,000 of financial assistance annual to each recipient attending an ABA-approved law school.  The awards are made to entering first year students and are renewable for each of the succeeding years in school.

The deadline for this year’s scholarships is March 1, 2010. Applications are available online at the ABA website. Recipients are selected based on their individual applications, not on the law school they attend, so anyone planning to attend an ABA-approved law school is eligible to apply.  You should apply regardless of whether you know yet which school you will attend — the Scholarship Fund does not anticipate that students will have already received their acceptance letters.
