Math 425—Fall 2011

Here are the solutions to the Final Exam—with division of partial credit indicated. And, for reference, a copy of the exam itself.

The Math 425 Final Exam is scheduled for:

Wednesday 14 December
4:00–6:00 p.m.
LGRT 219 (not where the Finals schedule says it is!)

In case of emergency campus closing…

• If UMass is closed all day but open in the evening,
  or is closed all afternoon and all evening,
  then final is 8:45 p.m. Thursday 15 December;
• else if closed all day and all evening,
  then final is 8:45 p.m. Friday 16 December;
• else exam is given as originally scheduled.

Problem Set 10 is due Friday 9 December 9:00 p.m. This set consists entirely of the four problems constituting WeBWorK set 425F11HW10.

Problem Set 9 consists of the 5 problems in WeBWorK Set 425F11HW9, due Monday 5 December at 10:00 a.m., together with one on-paper problem due at the start of class the same day. See the Homework page.

These solutions are for the particular values of the parameters that WeBWorK generated for me, so the particular constants involved will likely differ from what you had. But the method and steps will be the same.

Problem Set 8 is due Friday 18 November at 11 p.m.
