Course Objectives

Upon successful completion of this course the student should be able to:

  1. Answer questions about average rate of change and instantaneous rate of change.
  2. Take first and second derivatives of polynomials, exponential functions, logarithmic functions and trigonometric functions.
  3. Be able to draw first and second derivative graphs of polynomials, exponential functions, logarithmic functions and trigonometric functions.
  4. Answer questions about logistic growth models
  5. Answer questions about surge functions
  6. Find maxima, minima, and inflection points of polynomials, exponential functions, logarithmic functions and trigonometric functions.
  7. Estimate the area under a curve.
  8. Calculate the exact area under a curve.
  9. Use the Fundamental Theorem of Calculus.
