The objective of the Key Players Project is to honor men of color who are quietly playing a pivotal role in the emotional and physical development of Springfield youth. We seek to increase the awareness of the many contributions these men are making in their communities. Men of color are rarely acknowledged for the work they do with children and are often unfairly stigmatized. We will try to flip the script by highlighting these contributions that often go overlooked or ignored.

The Key Players Project is part of an undergraduate course in the Sport Management Department of the Isenberg School of Management at the University of Massachusetts-Amherst. In addition to course work, the students administer the Key Players Project and volunteer in Springfield at schools and community centers throughout the fall semester.
