More on falafel wars
Here is a follow up to our discussion of falafel and hummus cultural ownership, an article from Haaretz, a hat tip to Jorie.
Palestinian-Israeli Art

According to the article, Palestinian art is not often viewed in Israel. Why do you think that is so? Also note that this review (very positive) comes from an American Jewish paper, what do you think are reactions in Israel?
The Falafel War
Here is another NYTimes article that was written as if with our course in mind. So, who made the falafel first? Whose ownership is justified? What are the arguments different sides are making? Bon appetit! (And, of course, as usual, your posting is due on Monday night to ensure credit).
System Ali
Here is something directly relevant to us–an article in the Forward (the oldest Jewish newspaper in the US) about a hip-hop group comprized of Israelis, Palestinians, and even an immigrant from Uzbekistan… Here is a link to the full article, and here is a link to the System Ali’s MySpace page.
Soccer
Here is a trailer for a new film –Sons of Sakhnin, an Israeli-Palestinian soccer team:
If you were really interested in this, you can read a brief article by a sociologist Tamir Sorek, who studies Israelis and Palestinians through the lens of sports.
