Poynter has a piece today on the growing trend of journalists leaving television and newspaper jobs to work online.

    To me, this just means more work for future journalists. So long are the days of simply sitting at a newsdesk and typing an article that you send to an editor for your little newspaper job. Now, there are going to be less jobs, meaning more competition, and more work/skills demanded from us.

    I’m sort of apathetic towards this whole idea of converging TV/newspapers into one unit. After all, these people aren’t earning more, despite doing more work.

    It makes me question whether or not I want to be a journalist. Less pay, more work, no sleep – how is that appealing?
