January 2017 Moodle News

Reminder: Removal of Old Moodle Courses

On February 15, 2017, access to Moodle courses taught up to and including Spring 2015 will be removed from Moodle at UMass Amherst.

Please backup any course content you do not wish to lose, including course materials, grades and student submissions. For help, see Backup a Moodle Course.

To make backing up course materials easier, we provide a tool to quickly download all files posted by a Teacher or Course Designer in your course. This includes files such as PDFs and videos that you uploaded as Resources or added to Quizzes or Activity descriptions. (Student submissions can be downloaded from within each activity). For details, see Download All Instructor Files from a Moodle Course.

New in Moodle for Spring 2017

  • New Turnitin Interface:
Basic functionality will remain the same, and the Submission inbox has not changed, but when instructors open a submission they’ll see a new, more compact interface for grading, providing feedback, and viewing originality reports. For more see A New Look for Turnitin.

  • Download All Annotated PDFs:
Instructors who use the Assignment activity feature to annotate PDF submissions within Moodle, can now download all annotated PDFs. On the View all submissions page, you’ll find the link to Download all annotated PDFs in the Administration block, under Assignment Administration. For more, see Download All Student Submissions to a Moodle Assignment
