class 13 final post

Overview:  Draft a final post (5 paragraphs) that conveys some of your significant findings and poses concluding questions.  Watch 5 new videos to see how they correspond with your earlier writings and work them into this final post.

1.  Watch five new videos within your genre.

  • Look for videos that are distinctive from what you’ve seen before.
  • Consider how they fit the genre patterns you’ve been describing.
  • In the post, discuss two of these videos: what’s interesting, patterns displayed, how they compare to earlier viewings.

2.  Read all your blog posts to come up with significant observations on your genre and concluding questions.

  • What’s interesting about this genre?  What have you learned from your semester-long survey?  New ideas?
  • What does your genre suggest about the interaction of popular culture and online, interactive media?  What’s the distinctive role of YouTube?
  • Come up with at least three talking points.  You might draw upon the class 8 reading response on Jenkin’s “Nine Propositions.”
  • Include at least two videos. (see #1 above)
  • Formulate a strong opening sentence.
  • The conclusion should include several questions raised by your survey.  These could be questions for follow-up study.  These should consider larger questions about the genre you’re studying in relation to online media, popular culture, and YouTube.  These might also include questions you might explore if you were to continue this study.
  • Come up with a fitting blog title.
  • Minimum five paragraphs.

3.  Proof-read & edit all your blog posts.

  • Proofread all your blog entries.
  • Edit for grammar, syntax, spelling, and coherence.
