Looking for research funding but don’t know how or where to start? GSGS offers individual consultations to discuss your particular funding needs and help you identify sources of external support, including state and federal sources, nonprofits, and private foundations. *GSGS cannot help with issues around general living expenses. We can only provide assistance with applying for non-UMass sources for research, training, dissertation- or thesis-writing, postdoc, and similar types of grant/fellowship awards.
General info about consultations:
Appointments last approximately 45 minutes, and are reserved on a first-come, first served basis. Consultations are for individual students only. Please note that our schedule is subject to change. If GSGS must reschedule your appointment we will notify you as soon as possible; however, on a rare occasion an appointment may have to be rescheduled on short notice. We apologize for any inconvenience.
To schedule a consultation, make an appointment via the on-line appointment system.
If you must reschedule an appointment, you can cancel and reschedule your appointment via the on-line appointment system (you can access your appointment information from the link in the original appointment confirmation email) or contact GSGS by email.

If you’re not in the area, you can make an appointment to work with GSGS by phone or email. Follow the directions in the on-line appointment system and, under “Additional Info,” indicate your preference for either a phone or email consultation. If you request a phone or email appointment you must use your UMass email address or provide other proof that you are a currently matriculated UMass Amherst grad student.
