General Admission: $40, $30; Five College, GCC and 17 & Under: $15, $10

This Los Angeles based dance company performs their newest evening-length work, Agua Furiosa, challenging the audience to confront the harsh realities of race in our country. Inspired by Shakespeare’s The Tempest and Oya, the Afro-Cuban deity of wind and storms, Agua Furiosa merges call and response, a live vocalist, water themes, fierce physicality and the performers’ own personal narratives.

  1. Contra – Tiempo is at the top of its game and soaring in the world of Afro-Cuban and Hip-Hop dance. It’s highly original choreography is wildly inspirational and creative. The dancers were fluid, athletic, and full of attitude with every move. They did a beautiful job of interpreting the choreographer’s vision. It didn’t seem possible to sustain that level of movement for an hour and a half. The music was spectacular. The singer’s voice filled the house challenging the audience to respond. Bravo!! This was one of the best dance performances I’ve seen. Thank you.
I was debating whether or not to attend this performance and was taken in fully by the photo in the Gazette.

  2. I have seen many dance companies and styles in the last thirty years, but this is probably in the top 3 of worst performances I’ve ever been to.

  3. I wanted to like the performance and did like parts of it. The singer was amazing and the dancers were talented but somehow it just didn’t come together for me.

  4. I really enjoyed this performance. The dancers were amazingly physical and the choreography was thought-provoking.

  5. What a great, energizing and meaningful show! I brought teenagers and a younger child and we all enjoyed it thoroughly!

  6. I loved the singer and the dancing, at least most of it. However, it was confusing and hard to understand the meaning. I did read the narrative but it still didn’t make sense in parts.

  7. Such a quick 90 minutes! The use of props, and the combination of voice and non-stop movement swept me away!
