General Admission: $25; Five College, GCC and 17 & Under: $10

Alam Khan, son of the legendary Sarode Maestro Ali Akbar Khan, continues the purity of his father’s musical style while adding his own individual touch as a 21st century musician. Alam maintains the reverence given to playing classical ragas in his solo concerts around the world, but also jams occasionally with musicians in diverse genres. One of the most sought after tabla players in the world today, master percussionist Nitin Mitta boasts the rare ability to combine technical virtuosity, spontaneity, clarity of tone and sensitivity to melodic nuances.

  1. Fabulous! Those two marvelous musicians were SO in tune with each other, in the largest sense. They seemed to breathe together, and then – those echoes of each other, rhythmically as well as melodically (incredible what he did with the multiple pitches of the tabla). Incredible musicianship! Thank you, thank you, thank you for bringing them to us.

  2. This was a wonderful performance. We were transported. Thank you for bringing such joy to the valley.

  3. What a wonderful concert! I cannot wait until they come back, which I hope will happen very soon. As for “the electronic element” mentioned by another person, that is a feature of this type of music; a crucial element of this style. Thank you so much for bringing Alam and Nitin to Amherst!
