Joining forces with renowned guitarist Pepe Romero and the timeless Romeros Quartet, the acclaimed Munich Symphony Orchestra returns to the US for the 2015-2016 tour season, conducted by Philippe Entremont. The New York Times described the Romeros as “the only classical guitar quartet of real stature in the world today.” With this superb quartet, the orchestra will perform a repertoire of Spanish and French music, including Bizet, Rodrigo and Massanet.

Audience members are invited to a pre-performance talk at 6:30 p.m. in the Concert Hall lobby.

  1. This was a great show. The orchestra and the Romeros were both top notch. It is certainly great to live in an area where such great cultural events can be seen and heard at reasonable prices.

  2. What a wonderful concert. I particularly liked the seven short numbers by Jules Massenet (Le acid: Ballet Music) and the Carmen Suites excerpts. The guitar music was first rate, but guitar music is not my cup of tea.
I brought a wheel chair patron and since she is normally in bed by 8 PM, I thought she might want to leave at the intermission, but no way was she going to miss the we one part of the program. Obviously she enjoyed it as well. Plus I must give high marks to the ushers and the EMT’s. Overall it was a great experience for us both.

  3. It was a beautiful program. The second movement of the Rodrigo quartet, starting with the strumming of one note was magical.

  4. Thank you! This was a remarkable and special concert. The Concierto de Aranjuez by Rodrigo is something I’ve listened to probably more than any other piece of music. Also the Concierto de Andaluz was spectacular! Guitar music is my cup of tea and it was delicious. The Munich orchestra was so clear and beautiful and the pieces they chose truly spectacular. What a wonderful evening.

  5. Thanks to the “Fine Arts” for bringing us a world class concert. We are very lucky to be able to hear such quality music.
