East German Films from UMass Amherst’s DEFA Film Library Now Available

The Libraries have purchased the streaming video collection of East German films curated by the Professor Barton Byg of the UMass Amherst Languages, Literatures & Cultures department. The DEFA Collection on the Kanopy platform contains over 100 films (and growing) made by East German filmmakers or about East Germany since 1946.

The Libraries have added the second volume of Underground and Independent Comics from Alexander Street Press. Included in our two volumes are over 420 adult comic and graphic novel series and 1,900 books with interviews and critical essay. You can browse by characters, genres, publishers, series and subjects or search the extensive indexing of the content.

Routledge Performance Archive is Live

The Libraries have a new subscription to Routledge Performance Archive, a database of streaming audio and visual theater performances with critical commentary. You can browse content through A-Z lists of practitioners, subjects (including Actor & Actor Training, Comedy, Form & Genre, Political Theater & Performance, etc.) and commentaries. You can also search by keyword.

PBS Video Collection on Trial

PBS Video Collection offers hundreds PBS production documentaries and series covering history, science and technology, diversity studies, business, and current events on the Alexander Street Press platform. You can browse by title, people, disciplines, series or search with these limits.

Psychological Experiments Online Now Available

Psychological Experiments Online is a new source of audio, video, text and web sites about psychological experiments from the 20th and 21st centuries. You can browse or search by experiment, psychologist, methodology, subject, title and publisher and limit by date, format and content type. This is a growing collection of resources.

Classical Music in Video Now Available

The Libraries have purchased Classical Music in Video, a streaming video collection of over 700 performances, masterclasses and interviews related to classical music. You can search for people, titles or subtitles, or browse by material type (documentary, interview, performance, etc.), genre (aria, jazz, baroque suite, polka, etc.), time periods, venues and more. If you create your own free account, you can create playlists of whole pieces or clips.
