SportBusiness International provides news, reports and analysis on the international business of sport. You can perform a simple keyword search or browse reports and videos by sector (e.g. media, stadium and venue management, event bidding and awarding, etc.); publication; sport or organization.

Complete Television, Radio and Cable Industry Directory Now Available

The Libraries have added a subscription to the Complete Television, Radio and Industry Directory. It’s available in two parts:

Mintel Trends Added for Consumer Data

Our new Mintel Trends subscription provides a database of reports on shifts in consumer behavior across industries, demographics and themes. It’s available to UMass Amherst students, librarians, and faculty only through an individual account which must be set up using a UMass email address. You can browse through reports by industry, demographic or theme, or you can search by keyword.

Upgrade to Business Source Complete

The Libraries have replaced Business Source Premier with Business Source Complete from Ebsco. Business Source Complete provides abstracting and indexing for 5,121 and full text for an additional 3,820 journals and magazines, with coverage goes back to 1886. The database also includes books, case studies, faculty seminar videos, industry reports and SWOT analyses. You can search by keyword or indexed field, and you can limit your search by company, NAICs code, publication type, language, date, full-text, peer review and much more.

U.S. Political Stats Database Added

U.S. Political Stats from CQ Press is a data visualization and research tool for data on Congress, the Supreme Court, and the Presidency. You can browse through data categories such as campaign finances, floor votes, interest group scores and Supreme Court cases; policy categories such as budget & taxation, immigration, veterans affairs, science, technology & communication; and by states and districts. You can also search by keyword and narrow your terms to apply to data, policy or branch categories. The results are displayed in charts or tables, and you can compare data sets.

Libraries Now Subscribe to Rock’s Backpages

Rock’s Backpages covers the rock and roll music industry back to the 1950’s with reviews, interviews and articles. You can browse for content by artist, audio (of interviews), genre, publication or writer; or search by keyword.

Note: the Rock’s Backpages homepage has many prompts to subscribe. The UMass Amherst Libraries has a paid subscription for full access to the database; if you have a UMass Amherst NetId to login from off-campus, or you connect on-campus, you do not need an individual subscription.

State House News Service is a privately-owned wire service for Massachusetts state government news. You can track bills, read press releases, see the State House daily schedule and House and Senate session statuses, view budgets, and much more.

Essential Science Indicators a New Resource from Thomson

Essential Science Indicators (ESI) is a new database of performance indicators that ranks the most highly cited authors, institutions, countries and journals from the Web of Science Core Collection in the past 10 years across 22 broad disciplines. ESI also includes “Hot Papers”, the top .1% of papers cited within a discipline in the past two years. You can use this database to identify top researchers or institutions in specific disciplines, trends and hot topics.

Congress Collection, Voting & Elections Added

The Congress Collection and Voting and Elections have been added to CQ Press Political Reference Suite. The Congress Collection provides analysis of members of Congress voting records, interest groups and public policy making. You can find policy analysis to topic, vote tallies and descriptions, votes by Congressional Session going back to the 79th Congress (1945), and you can compare voting records of different members.

The Voting and Elections Collection provides data and analysis of elections in America back to 1789. You can browse voting records in primary and general elections by state and year, for example; find candidates and their election results; and compare election results from Gubernatorial, Congressional and Presidential elections.
