New Historical, Digital British Newspapers

Seventeenth-Eighteenth Century Burney Collection Newspapers are a new addition to the Libraries’ online resources. Coverage includes English newspapers, broadsides, addresses, proclamations and pamphlets published between 1620’s and 1790’s. You can browse publications by location or search by document or publication title, publication date, full-text keyword and add limits for publication section, images and more.

Joanna Briggs Institute Evidence Based Practice (EDP) Database provides reference tools for clinical practitioners in the forms of evidence summaries, recommended practices, best practice information sheets, systematic reviews, consumer information sheets, systematic review protocols and technical reports, all developed from evidence-based practice methodology. You can browse by publication type or subject area or search by MeSH subject heading, author, publisher, equipment and much more.

Dictionary of American Regional English on Trial

The Dictionary of American Regional English is a new publication from Harvard University Press and its entries include words, phrases and pronunciations that are unique to different areas across the United States. You can browse for words by region (e.g. eastern Georgia, northern New York, Appalachians, West, etc.) and look at their definitions and quotes using the word at different periods of time. Some entries include audio recordings. You can also see the survey questions used to identify the dictionary entries.
