Blogging and digital storage

Blogging is a terrific way to publish your latest work, whether it’s writing or photography. You can start your own student blog very easily by following these instructions found right here:

http://oit.umass.edu/blogs/blogs_get_started.pdf

Need extra storage for all your digital assets? As a student here, you have 250 megabytes available to you with your UDrive. Instructions on using your UDrive can be found here:

Just photos

The most valuable photographic tutorial came with your camera. It’s the owner’s manual. Don’t have it? You can easily retrieve it in pdf form by simply putting the camera’s name and model number into a search engine. Most manufacturers have them online.

Looking for information about all the features offered by Picasa? Check it all out right here:

Just sound

Audacity is the recommended software for sound because it is an industry-wide standard. Two tutorials are listed here:

Here is also a fine, somewhat broader view of sound technology used by photojournalists, information about tools and more stuff about Audacity graciously provided by Will Yurman of the Rochester (NY) Democrat and Chronicle.
