Study Abroad
INTERNATIONAL PERSPECTIVES ON DISABILITY (PSYCH 490P)
Ashley Woodman, Ph.D., DDHS program director, and Christina Metevier, Ph.D., associate undergraduate advisor and senior lecturer in Psychology, joined forces to create a new study abroad course. The purpose of this course is to introduce students to international perspectives on disability. This course will discuss conceptualization of disability across diverse cultures, laws and social policies that affect the lives of people with disability, and systems of support for people with disabilities across the globe.
This is the only faculty-led program currently offered in the Psychological and Brain Sciences department. This 4-credit course includes a spring seminary and summer travel. The destination and theme for the course changes with each iteration. This course is currently being offered every two years.
